ABOUT US

Our School, Our Teachers

The Skokie Montessori School recognizes and respects the fundamental value, dignity, talents, and special needs of each child. The Skokie Montessori School is well equipped with instructional materials that are scientifically designed to provide an ample variety of learning experiences geared to the developmental needs of children from 2-6 years. Each program provides a high-level curriculum towards excellence through hands- on concrete materials in the areas of Science, Geography, Mathematics, Language, Sensorial Activities, Practical Life Activities, Art and Music.

The school provides children with a stimulating environment that will enhance their interest in learning while promoting social interaction, emotional development, physical coordination, and cognitive preparation. It builds a solid foundation of academic skills, indispensable to future learning endeavors. Children are encouraged to develop an ability to work independently based on their own initiatives; thus, stimulating concentration, sense of order, and self-discipline. Furthermore, the children are given the freedom to explore their environment, learn from mistakes, and internalize concepts and in effect, encouraging their curiosity and desire to learn what interests them.

The Skokie Montessori is affiliated with the American Montessori Society as a full member, and it is registered under the Illinois Board of Education and licensed from the DCFS.

Our History, Our Mission

The Skokie Montessori School will be celebrating its fourth year anniversary, serving the community of Skokie by educating young children in the approach of Maria Montessori. Our Mission is to provide abundant educational experiences that ensure their quest for a lifetime of learning, encourages intellectual curiosity, independence, and self-confidence in a stimulating, safe and caring environment.

The Skokie Montessori School is dedicated to help the child develop within himself a positive self-image through a series of repetitive successes in performing activities which answer his inner needs. The child thus gains conviction that he can do things by himself and that he is worthwhile. The child thrives on his feeling of accomplishment which helps build his self-confidence, initiative, persistence and sense of order. Permeated with feelings of confidence and security, he/she is prompted to venture forth in new activities, putting things together in a way fanning the spark of creativity within. The Skokie Montessori School provides a classroom atmosphere which encourages social interaction for cooperating, learning, peer teaching and emotional development.
